Bye Polar Girls Night Out--Christmas RS Party

It all began with an idea...dang those idea’s
A night out with the girls is what it’s all about.
Relief Society Christmas-Get-Together-
–away from the cold-
Bye-Polar Evening
The Menu:
 Polar Bear Stew and Arctic roots
 Wildberry Potlatch
 Tundra Salad with Moss and Lichens and Krill
 Rotund Eskimo Roll
 Glacier water.
 Klondike Bar for Dessert of course!
Upon arrival to the Shiver Me Timbers Lodge,
the entry way was adorned with a timber sign directing our frost bitten sisters to several of these establishments, Kodiak Island, Icy Strait, Glacier Bay, and Arctic Slope--northerly red underwear hung in the window if anybody needed a warmin’ up, a rickety rocking chair, a woolen vintage blanket, old tea kettle, pine needles and shrubbery strewn around the hearth.
Upon entry all shivered sisters received a name tag and another name–directing them later to a sequestered room. After all were finished eating a delish of a meal and singing Christmas Songs, in struts Miss Gitum(a.k.a.Margie Kocherhans) and Dr. Wilsia (Will See Ya)(a.k.a.Diana McLaws)our resident self proclaimed therapist–broadcasting quite vehemently that some of the sisters in attendance could use a make over-Can you imagine that! Sisters of Timber Lodge!! Yes, indeedy, those two Sisters just hand picked several sisters who they thought needed a 21st Century Remake!Chosen were Vanessa Gornik, Abbey Runyon, Keilei Shelley, Vanessa Harding! These sisters were plucked from the tribe, those who were left, their jaws gaping I’m sure were jealous. These young sisters with a spring in their step/or were they dragging their feet(?)accepted the metamorphosis that would ensue. All Sisters were then given a warning--that if they did not participate in updating their assigned girl Bishop Halbert would be coming in doing armpit hair removal–one sister was so surprised she had to ask her neighbor if she heard correctly. This EXCERCISE was NO joke! Believe you me!!!Miss Gitum and the good Doctor Wilsia , were soooo tickled they snorted like migrating caribou! The lucky 4 sisters were then thrust in the arms of our most experienced sisters who had been earlier assigned upon arrival by their name tag. Quickly with 10 minutes to do the make overs–they steered their little Queen to their designated sequestered room, which were aptly named:
“Miss Arctic Slope”–Vanessa Harding,

“Miss Glacier Bay” -Vanessa Gornik,“Miss Kodiak Island”- -Abbey Runyon,“Miss Icy Straits”- -Keilei Shelley. Needless to say Miss Gitum and the Good Doctor Wilsia, were never more proud of the transformation of their prodigy’s.In walked all the sisters –laughing, talking feeling accomplished-- The 4 assigned now, darling sisters, came in one at a time being honored with sounds of gasps–and thrills of chuckling. Each one took their turn wakling the icy run way and showed us all what a little make up and a new wardrobe can do for a girl!During the run way walk- One sister was assigned to tell a little about each contestant–We learned a lot about them–all the while they were smiling–in fact....we all were smiling! You could tell our Special Sisters KNEW they were excited about their new make over. They even had special banners made just for them and a snowball to put some meat on their little bones. They were indeed the best sports of evening. You gotta hand it to them!
Then Seinei Baker shared Mele Kalikimaka in dance form with all her grace and beauty--and we had a spiritual ending with a video spotlighting Elder Enzio Bushe .
Each sister was handed the words to the talk in a compact hand out to keep in their purse or car.It was not so cold when it was time to go home, nope ,warmth radiated from the lodge, laughter was heard for miles, smiles were kept on till they could share the story to a loved one, In fact, I still chuckle over that evening, even though I never did get my Klondike Bar!Thanks to Karen Rudell, Kristen Rogers, Patty Larsen, Sandy Lesueur, Margie & Diana our 4 agreeable girls, cleanup committee, our stalwart men guarding the gates and playing sonatas on the piano-and Seini! Then Seinei Baker shared Mele Kalikimaka in dance form with all her grace and beauty--and we had a spiritual ending with a video spotlighting Elder Enzio Bushe . I think they were warmed by the experience. Thanks to Karen Ruddell for manning the group making delish stew, Kristen Rogers her hours of giving ideas, making ornaments, Patty Larsen helping set up and manning kitchen also, Sandy Lesueur making enough delish salad and dressing, Margie & Diana just for what they do...our 4 agreeable girls, cleanup committee, our stalwart men guarding the gates and playing sonatas on the piano-and Seini for beauty and support!

I sold it!

I finally sold my Dad’s truck! Yep, it’s gone, no longer in the front of my house, no longer toothless men coming to check it out use up all the gas, and calling at all hours of the days and night, craigslists helped me sell it to a toothless couple who swept away with their prize, and off to get gas! Was I ever happy and Dad too! Need me to help you sell your car., forget about it!

Gordon Lightfoot== Rockin to the Oldy!

Okay, this was an unusual concert, it being probably Gordys last one that we will see, you see, he is about 70 years old, has not the best tone anymore because of massive stroke, and parkinsons, he had a vocal range of 3 notes, they were the good three notes, but when I yelled out for him to sing Alberta Bound, there was no response or a rendition of the melody, just another droning song, with lots of scratchy throat noises, now yes I am being harsh, but being a fan, a real fan, I have everyone of his albums, yes-- till some thug stole them all, all the cds I have ever owned from my vehicle, I am now started accumulating more , his old songs are wonderful, he was a hunk a mania back in the day, and ever since Patti and an old boyfriend, may I say Gert, loved him, since the age of 12 years I have loved him. Loved his singing, his balladeering, his folksy ness, I have gone to many concerts of his, probably more than John Denver who i have seen multiple times. Anyway, a bygone era, it was nostalgic to say the least, with my sisters, Patti and Rosemary, we had some good laughs, so listen to him, and try and think of what he sounded in his prime, I know its a strectch. So here's to Gordy, Our Last Balladeer

Bestest Invention for the Elderly

Well I have to explain this, cause it was dang, cute., We get to Walmart and Dad was looking for a particular electric shaver and they needed groceries, so you know they are on the opposite ends of that store, and I was not going to have them hobble around with their canes, so I told Dad to take a cart Mother you take one. Mothers was quite a bit faster , so she always wanted to follow Dad., they were so cute in the store. Of course, I was in the lead, skiddaling around, and them following me, I actually stopped a man and said, arent they the cutest people you have ever seen. I wished I had my camera in the stores but I didn't, so i ran to the car and told them to stay still, they did, but unfortunately in the cross walk, so I told them they needed to get out of the street. But they were great sports, we didn't find the shaver but the food we did. so funny.
